This paper systematically studied effect of particle size distribution, andalusitecontent, fine powder, dispersant, antidetonant on the properties of bauxite-based lowcement castable to develop a bauxite-andalusite based low cement castable used intundish permanent lining. The results as follow:(1) In this experiment, when the q value was0.30, the castable tend to be closelypacked state. Because the surface area of powder became smaller as the particlesbecame smaller and the rheological properties of castable can be improved, less watercontent can meet the construction performance of castable, other performance ofcastable can be improved at the same time.(2) The properties of castable reached the best when3-1mm particle of andalusitecontent was of10%,1-0mm particles was of19%and the andalusite fine was of22%.(3) With increasing SiO2fine powder content the flowability of castable firstlyincreased and then decreased. When α-Al2O3powder was increased, thermal shockresistance of the castable was firstly increased and then decreased. when the α-Al2O3content was of4wt%, SiO2powder was4wt%, specimen had better thermal shockresistance.(4) When dispersant B as the water reducing agent lower water addition can meetthe self flow of castable. The bending and compressive strength of specimens reachedmaximum after1350℃×3h and1500×3h thermal treatment. When the additioncontent of dispersant was of0.15%the properties of castable was the best.(5) Domestic alumina fine powder A was affirmed to have the best cost-effectivebased on the comparison experiment for4kinds of alumina fine powder resulting from different sources.(6) The properties of self flow castable firstly increased and then decreased withantidetonant content, so it’s addition amount was not too much, otherwise it woludaffect the construction performance of self flow castables. In this research, when0.06%antidetonant was added the castable could be baked fastly and the constructionproperties of castables wasn’t influenced.
