Along with the development of the national social productivity, the electricity demandhas increased dramatically. In our country, thermal power is the dominant way of generatingelectricity. Coal, which is rich and cheap, is the preferred fuel for thermal power plants. However, Coal power plants are more likely to produce many problems of waterenvironment. The first-stage project of Hubei Energy Wuxing Cogeneration is located in thesouthwest of junggar basin. Its installed capacity is150MW and it is attached to NongWuShielectric power company. After it is completed,it will provide electricity for the Wuxing city.Due to the potential pollution of groundwater and other environmental problems caused byextraction of groundwater, wastewater discharge, solid waste leached during the time ofconstruction, operation and after the expiry of of thermal power plant(also ash standby ashfield),it is an essential part of thermal power plant construction to evaluate the impact ofthermal power plant construction and operation on groundwater and this evaluation is ofgreat significance to the sustainable development of local social economy. On this basis, with the "hubei energy Wuxing cogeneration project"as a support, thethermal power plant site and surrounding areas as the study area, this study assess the effectsof a thermal power plant construction on groundwater environment and r provide a scientificbasis for protection of groundwater resources. On the basis of analyzing the regional physicalgeography, geology, hydrological and hydrogeological condition, this study survey waterenvironment status in this area, then evaluate present groundwater quality situation;ThroughEngineering analysis of the thermal power plant construction, make a analysis of the maininfluence factors of thermal power plant construction and operation on the groundwaterenvironment, carry out environmental impact assessment to groundwater, serve as areference for the plant construction. The main conclusions of this paper includes thefollowing points1. Using existing data and engineering analysis materials, this study analyze theproduction and processing mode of sewage, waste water and solid wastes at various stages ofrunning for thermal power plant and turnover ash field, and then appraise the the rationalityof the approach.Understand the main way of pollutants and their treatment through the analysisofproduction process and the fuel, water quality and the sources. The results shows that the power plant and turnover of ash field operation will not impact on the environment.2. Theresults of water quality evaluationshow that:the groundwater quality of powerplant and the turnover of ash field areas is good, the main component that exceeds thestandards is nitrate;the groundwater quality of standby ash field is bad, the main componentthat exceeds the standards are sulfate, nitrate, chloride, nitrite, fluorine, cadmium, totalsoluble solids and total hardness.the water is worse than that was in previous status.for thewater quality of the Tasierhai Reservoir, the onlystandard component that exceed thestandard is total phosphorus, which is significantly elevated levels.3.In view of the time during proposed project is completed and engineering operations,Use GMS to establish flow model and the solute transport model for the possible pollutionsources-liquid ammonia storage tank area, ignition oil tank storage area, accident storagearea, chemical sewage wastewater treatment station, liquid ammonia tank leakage risksituations and accident ash field,to predict the migration of pollutants. the results show thatunder no seepage conditions (or seepage failure), the plant leachate pollutants in pollutionwill be formed in the evaluation area, its influence will spread to the, as far as out of thefactory.under the condition of seepage control, pollution halo cannot be produced.therefore,it is necessary to focus on the factory area to adopt effective prevention measures, andemergency measures and pollution control measures of seepage failure should be putforward.
