With the rapid development of manufacturing automation and informationization,sensor technology, the modern information forward technology, has become one of themost important directions of automatic inspection technology. Nowadays, nearly alldeveloped countries are extremely mindful of this, sensor technology is looked as oneof the key technologies for national security, economics and comprehensivedevelopment, has been one of national science and technology development strategiesand plans. As the window of information apperception and acquisition, the new sensorhad been designed by new effects, materials and technology of processing in recentyears, so sensors with new structure and new uses rush into the market continually.Magnetically controlled shape memory alloy (MSMA) is a kind of new functionalmaterial; it has the features of big output strain force, high reproducibility, rapidresponsibility and high efficiency. MSMA can outputs displacement and force undermagnetic field (positive effect); it also can generate magnetic signal which is affectedby internal magnetic performance under external force (inverse effect). This supplies thecondition of making MSMA sensor.Based on the inverse effect of MSMA Ni2MnGa, this paper proposes a newconcept of sensor. First, through the study of MSMA material’s deformation mechanism,the experimental studies of MSMA’s electromagnetic properties under the static anddynamic force are analyzed. The influence law of force, magnetic field and deformationon the deformation of MSMA magnetic flux are discussed. Second, the workingprinciple of MSMA sensor is proposed by taking full advantage of MSMA’s inversecharacteristic. Based on the principle of MSMA sensor’s structural dynamics, this paperbuilds the mechanical model. According to the R.C.O′Handley’s model andelectromagnetic principles, mechanical-electromagnetic conversion model is established,and the parameters are bias points and the vibration signal. Third, this paper gives thestructure and design principle of the sensor system, and builds multi field couplingexperimental platform of MSMA sensor. On basis of the experimental data of sensor, adynamic model and predictive method of MSMA sensor is presented based on BPneural network. This paper presents the design idea and the principle of MSMA sensor, whichbased on the material’s inverse characteristic, and the new mentalities for deeplyresearch and broad application of MSMA are provided. By developing a sensorprototype with typical application and applied technology, a theory and technologyfoundation for the control system of MSMA sensor can be laid.
