The carbide slag is a by-product of calcium carbide hydrolysis, and it pollut the air, soil andgroundwater in long term storage, with the enhance of community awareness of protect environmental,The comprehensive utilization of carbide slag become the focus of research. Base on the many way ofcomprehensive utilization of carbide slag by antecessor,The essence of comprehensive utilization ofcarbide slag is purify Ca(OH)2in Carbide slag.Therefore,The paper should find a more effective way toutilize carbide slag,and purify Ca(OH)2is the first to be considered. Base on full study of Physicalcharacteristics of carbide slag. The Study show that peple can use physical separation method to purifyCa(OH)2, and identify the best separation size.(1)Base on comprehensive compare of the advantages and disadvantages of multiple physicalseparation methods, combined with awareness of the physical characteristics of carbide slag, the paperselect hydrocyclone as the main separation equipment.(2)After Select the most appropriate separation mathematical model and establish the constraints ofhydrocyclone structural parameter, hydrocyclone structural parameter is optimization design by usingMATLAB, and obtain a high level of separation size:Diameter76mm; Column height45mm; Inletdiameter14mm; Overflow diameter16mm; Underflow diameter8mm;Depth of overflow tube insert38mm;Cone angle20°.(3)The paper establish the mathematical model of original hydrocyclone and optimized hydrocyclone,import the two mathematical model into FLUENT software for numerical simulation, Comparative studythe pressure distribution,and tangential velocity distribution and the turbulent kinetic energy distributionand the velocity vector distribution, The paper analysis separation performance by the flow fieldcharacteristics effects, and loaded carbide slag particles enter hydrocyclone, track carbide slag particles,the separation effects of the two models during the target separated particle size range were contrasted. Theresults showed that the optimized model was superior to the original one in separation precision,(4)The experimental platform for optimized hydrocyclone were established, Base on the fieldexperimental conditions, the paper design orthogonal experiment for two factors and four indexes, avariance analysis of experimental results by using SPSS to determine significant factors in each index andthe optimal combination levels of two factors:entrance pressure is0.10MPa, mass concentration is12%.The Ca(OH)2concentration is90.07%, the separation efficiency is85.04%, the production capacity is2.01L/h, the split ratio is0.236.(5)This paper still has some shortcomings, the next step we should establish full hydrocyclonesystem,ensure the stability of equilibrium,and the feeding conditions of hydrocyclone.
