The dissertation covers the studies on the catalytic activity ofLanthanide trichlorides (LnCl3) in the synthesis of benzoxazoles and2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones. There are two parts in thisdissertation.Firstly, the catalytic activity of lanthanide trichlorides on the one-potsynthesis of benzoxazoles from the condensation of2-aminophenol withaldehyde under microwave and solvent-free conditions was studied. Theproducts of benzoxazole derivatives were obtained in good to high yields. The electronic and steric effects were investigated. Reactions of eitheraromatic aldehydes or aliphatic aldehydes with substituted2-aminophenols could provide good to high yields.Secondly, under ultrasonic irradiation and solvent-free conditions2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones were conformed in good to yields byreaction of anthranilamid with aldehydes or ketones catalyzed by LnCl3.The influence of different aldehydes and ketones on the reaction activitywas also studied. This reaction provides a simple, mild, and high activityway to the synthesis of2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones.In summary, it was found that lanthanide chlorides showed highcatalytic activities on the synthesis of benzoxazole derivatives and2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones, which provides a green and highefficient way to synthesis of benzoxazole derivatives and2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones.
