Poly (arylene ether)s is a engineering plastics which repaidly developed during nearly40years. PES and poly (ether ketone)s are the two major varieties of special engineering plastics. PESK is a kind of special engineering plastics, which combines the properties of PES and PEEK.These excellent properties continue to attract people to develop new varieties of poly (ether ketone)s and PES. Preparation of high performance and easy processing poly (aryl ether)s become one of hot research topic.The dichloro-monomer,1-(p-chlorobenzoyl)-3-(p-chlorobenzenesulfonyl)benzene, which was synthesized by our research group contains carbonyl and sulfonyl which cause it’s asymmetric structure. Because of the difference of ability of absorb electronic between carbonyl and sulfonyl, the two chlorides in the dichloro-monomer molecule have different activity. The PESK synthesized by that dichloro-monomer should be three structural arrangements in it’s main chain. That structural arrangements make the polymer’s main chain have great degree of confusion and entropy, so the polymer is soluble in general polar organic solvent. The cost of dichloro-monomer is lower than the fluoro-monomer.In this paper, the new PESK has been researched which has been synthesized by the dichloro-monomer containing carbonyl and sulfonyl on the basis of molecular design. The major works are as follows:(1)The1-(p-chlorobenzoyl)-3-(p-chloro-benzenesulfonyl)benzene was synthesized by (Trichloromethyl)benzene.(2)The novel PESK was synthesized by the reaction of1-(p-chlorobenzoyl)-3-(p-chloro-benzenesulfonyl)benzene and Hydroquinone.(3)The structure PESKwascharactered,Theirstructurewas unambiguously confirmed by FT-IR、1H-MNR and high-resolution mass spectrometry. Also for the amorphous polymers.(4)Performance of PESK was tested.glass transition temperatures of172℃and degradation temperatures for5%weight loss occurred all above479℃in nitrogen, It could be soluble in DMAc、NMP、DMF,The good solubility of PESK.
