At present, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) materials were restricted in used because the strength, modulus and thermal properties of ABS were not well. In our study, on the same amount, systematically investigating the effect of the different of LCP on mechanical properties, processability and thermal properties of ABS resin. The results showed that LCP-3raised the strengths and modulus of ABS/LCP-3composites. Discussing the effect of LCP-3and GF amount on strength, modulus and thermal properties of ABS resin. As the results indicated, when the amount of LCP-3was five phr, the tensile properties, flexible properties and modulus of composites were better than those of ABS resin. When the amount of GF was30phr, the combination property of ABS/GF composites were well. Compared to the ABS/LCP-3(100/5)composites, ABS/LCP-3composites increased more dramatically.In order to increase in compatibility between ABS and LCP-3, four methods of surface treatment were choiced to modify LCP-3. They were surface clean, surface grafting, phosphoric acid treatment and hydrolytic acid treatment. Studying the effect of the four kinds of processing methods on material mechanics, processing, thermal properties and LCP-3surface structure and ABS/LCP-3composites microstructure of ABS/LCP-3composites. The results showed when the time of the hydrolytic acid treatment was18h, comprehensive performance of ABS/LCP-3composites was excellent, and hydrolysis processing time for18h of the LCP-3means for LCP-3-4.On the basis of ABS/LCP-3-4composites enhanced by LCP-3-4, adding flame retardants, such as resorcinol bis (diphenyl phosphate)(RDP) and bisphenol A bis(diphenyl phosphate)(RDP) to composites. Comparising and analysing the effect of the amount of BDP and RDP on burning, mechanics, and processing properties and thermal performance of ABS/LCP-3-4composites. We found when the amount of RDP was6phr, the comprehensive performance of ABS/LCP-3-4was best, but the flame retardant effect was not obvious. In order to improve the flame resistance of ABS/LCP-3-4/RDP composites, discussing the effect of the amount of RP on the properties of composites. The results showed when the amount of RP was12phr, which greatly improved the flame resistance of ABS/LCP-3-4RDP/RP composites. And the oxygen index reached as high as29.8%, which was the2times than pure ABS resin, and the flame retardant level reached FV-0. But the toughness of composites reduced.In order to make further increase in the toughness of ABS/LCP-3-4/RDP/RP composites, adding the compatibilizer. Discussing the effect of the amount of compatibilizer on mechanics, processing, thermal properties and microstructure of the ABS/LCP-3-4/RDP/RP/compatibility composites. The results showed when the amount of compatibility was10phr, the material strength, toughness, and modulus ABS/LCP-3-4/RDP/RP/compatibilizer composites improved significantly and the oxygen index was27.4%, and the level of flame retardant reached FV-0.
