The root and rhizome of Panax notoginseng (Burk) F. H. Chen, belongs to Panax genus in Araliaceae family with sweet flavor and slightly bitter, has obvious effects of scattering stasis, hemostasis, detumescence, and relieving swelling, which used as a highly valued Chinese traditional herb, a natural resources of Chinese herbs, and edible plants for hundreds of years. Since the1980s, the development of related products has formed a certain industry scale because of continuously reporting effective components and pharmacological studies of P.’notoginseng. As main bioactive components of P. notoginsen, panax notoginsenosides (PNS) is used as a first Chinese patent medicine named "Xuesatong" preparation for treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and the percent in notoginseng taproot weight reach9-12%. Consequently, engineering study on the key technologies of extraction and isolation in PNS will be conducive to accelerate industrialization of P. notoginseng.The paper illustrated production processes of ultrasonic extraction of PNS via many laboratory scale tests, pilot scale tests and process certification base on chromatographic separation process in macroporous resin column. Firstly, the used ultrasonic extraction is a technique with high efficiency and low energy consumption. Secondly, we applied polymer flocculation precipitation technology to remove macromolecule impurity. Finally, using macroporous resin and decolorizing resin columns is for’purification and then obtained PNS by spray drying. The orthogonal experiment for the key process parameters was optimized by investigation of the single factor such as ultrasonic frequency, extraction solvent and material granularity to determine the key influencing factors of the frequency, time and temperature, and content determination and fingerprint analysis, resin, solvent residue, and the analysis of the heavy metal of mercury and arsenic.In the process, the eighty percent of PNS are ginsenoside Rg1,Rb1, Re, Rd, and notoginsenoside R1to fill government standard request. The content of PNS of ultrasonic extraction is5-10%more than those of the ethyl alcohol reflux and rate of extraction reach to12%more than those of the ethyl alcohol reflux. On this basis, combining with the integration of equipment system, the integrated information management and intelligent control, the current domestic advanced technology of deep processing production line of the annual output of200tons of ultrasound extraction of PNS have been designed and built, making notoginseng resource in Yunnan deep processing and comprehensive utilization to realize the high-tech industrialization.Drammarance triterpenoid saponins with20(s)-protopanaxatriol and20(s)-protopanaxadiol aglycon are not merely as material of medicines and health products, but also as a key steps in saponins separation. In this paper, the technology conditions of separation of various saponins monomer by using the macroporous resin was studies. It can achieve the automation, large-scale production. It also has a far-reaching significance on deep processing, raising the added value and extending the industrial chain of notoginseng.
