| Due to the advantages of fluorinated liquid crystals, such as low viscosity, high resistivity, good stability, suitable dielectric constant, rapid response and so on, fluorinated liquid crystalline materials become very important in the display field. At the same time, side-chain and terminal fluorinated compounds can raise the solubility of other liquid crystals in mix LCs due to fluorine’s greasy solubility. For these reasons, fluorinated liquid crystals provide a wide choice for the deployment of various high-performance mixed-LCDs.In this dissertation, ten liquid crystalline monomers were synthesized, which include4’-(octanoyloxy)-[1,1’-biphenyl]-4-yl2-fluoro-4-(undec-10-enoyloxy)benzoate(M1),4’-(octano yloxy)-[1,1’-biphenyl]-4-yl4-(allyloxy)-2fluorobenzoate(M2),3-fluoro-4-((octyloxy)carbonyl) phenyl4’-(undec-10-enoyloxy)-[1,1’-biphenyl]-4-carboxylate(M3),4’-(decanoyloxy)-[1,1’-biph enyl]-4-yl4-(allyloxy)-2fluorobenzoate(M4),4’-(undec-10-enoyloxy)-[1,1’-biphenyl]-4-yl2-fl uoro-4-(undec-10-enoyloxy)benzoate(M5),3-fluoro-4-((octyloxy)carbonyl)phenyl4’-(allyloxy)-[1,1’-biphenyl]-4-carboxylate(M6),4’-((2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8-pentadecafluorooctanoyl)o xy)-[1,1’-biphenyl]-4-yl4-(allyloxy)-2-fluorobenzoate(M7),4’-((2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8-pen tadecafluorooctanoyl)oxy)-[1,1’-biphenyl]-4-yl2-fluoro-4-(undec-10-enoyloxy)benzoate(M8),4-((4-(undec-10-enoyloxy)benzoyl)oxy)phenyl4’-(allyloxy)-[1,1’-biphenyl]-4-carboxylate(M9),6-((4-(allyloxy)benzoyl)oxy)hexahydrofuro[3,2-b]furan-3-yl-4’-(undec-10-enoyloxy)-[1,1’-biphenyl]-4-carboxylate (M10) So six series of liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs) with different chemical structures and characters were synthesized. Especially, fluorinated monomers and the six series of liquid crystal elastomers were first prepared.The structures and properties of the obtained liquid crystalline monomers and LCPs were investigated by FT-IR spectroscopy,1H-NMR spectroscopy, all the monomers and six series of LCPs were analyzed and proved; differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and polarizing optical microscopy (POM), Their structure-property relationships were discussed in detail.Not only they have important theoreticalvalue, but also provide the development and application with technology support on application area. |
