Fullerene micro/nano crystals include one-dimensional fullerene micro/nanofibers (FM/NFs), two-dimensional fullerene micro/nano lamellae andthree-dimensional fullerene micro/nano particles (FM/NPs). These materials becomea hot topic not only because of their properties of fullerenes, but also theirdimensions and size effect. This article was written around the effective preparationand the relevant characteristics of these crystals, meanwhile, preliminarily exploredtheir application development. In preparation aspect, this article prepared FM/NFs by volatile diffusion methodfor the first time and analyzed them by using optical microscopy, scanning electronmicroscope, Fourier transform infrared and Raman spectroscopy. Time-dependent ofthe length of the fibers and the growth mechanism as a self-assembly process wererevealed in this article. In improved liquid-liquid interfacial precipitation (LLIP)method, we added ultrasound treatment plus mix of nucleation and growth unit to theoperation. As a result, the preparation period has been shorten vastly, meanwhile, tube containing rate and repetition rate have been both improved. For the preparationof C60/C70FM/NFs, this article studied the constituent of single C60/C70FM/NF,which is important for the understanding of growth mechanism of fullerene fibers. InFM/NPs preparation aspect, we took advantage of the hydrophobic of fullerenematerials and by adding a small amount of water to IPA, the bad solvent; wesuccessfully prepared the FM/NPs. Thermogravimetric analyzer and particle sizeanalyzer were used in the mechanism analytical part.In property testing aspect, this article analyzed the ultraviolet irradiationresistant performance of FM/NFs and by using FT-IR spectra, speculated that ozonewhich was produced by oxygen under ultraviolet irradiation plays the role ofoxidant. In application aspect, this article studied their application as catalyst carrier bydoping FM/NFs with Ru through supercritical fluid technology and it is worth notingthat by using this way, the doping amount is extremely huge, meanwhile hard to fall. The change of FM/NFs with amorphization and graphitization during doping bysupercritical fluid technology was also detected. This method offered a new idea forthe further development of applications of FM/NFs.
