Step shaft is an important component part of the machine. All transmission parts forrotary movement need to be installed on the shaft in order to achieve the rotary motion,transmit motion and power. In addition, the step shaft also plays an important role in certaincases. With industrial development, application of shaft will be more extensive, and itsaccuracy and efficiency will be higher. At this stage, turning is the main processing method ofshaft parts. This method is widely used because its less demanding of equipment and itsreasonable cost. But this processing method also has some deficiencies and brings a lot ofproblems. The traditional method of turning does not help to improve the efficiency andquality of product, so it is particularly important to find a new processing method of highefficiency and good quality.This article briefly overviews the current situation of stepped shaft, and analyzes thecutting processing method of shaft parts, and summarizes the method of improving theaccuracy of turning. Then article introduces the whirling and its characteristics and uses, andanalyzes the domestic and foreign current situation and development trend of whirling. Theidea of machining shaft parts by whirling is proposed as a basis for it.Subsequent the principle of axis by whirling is discussed. In general within the horizontallathe, structural design is carried out combined with jaw chuck and synchronous motors anddifferential control principle. The layout and the main structure of the CNC machine tools arebriefly described, while modal of the machine is analyzed by finite element software. Thenatural frequencies of bed and other key components are not within the range of operatingfrequencies, so it will not produce a resonance phenomenon in the cutting process, and canlargely ensure the machining accuracy. Finally the whirling machine control system isdiscussed and the control system of whirling is completed.To a large extent, the demand of market for shaft parts can be solved as whirlwind millingtechnique is applied to shaft parts processing. It is meaningful.
