As one of the world’s largest daily used chemical, ethylene is mainly produced by steam cracking of hydrocarbon. In order to meet the requirement of polymerization grade, the impur-ity substance, such as ethyne, must be removed from pyrolysis gas. In this paper, simulation an-alysis about the devices of hydrogenation reactor in the ethylene plant of Fushun Petrochemical Company is carried out, conditions of optimal operation of reactor and mechanism model has been obtained. Advanced control is designed and implemented on the basis of simulation analy-sis so as to control acetylene concentration, activity and selectivity of the reactor with the aim of saving energy, reducing consumption and increasing efficiency.This paper simulates devices of hydrogenation reactor, analyzes various of operation con-ditions, for instance, the hydrogen/acetylene ratio, the temperature, the airspeed, and the impact the catalytic poison have on the purity and output of ethylene. Therefore, mechanism model of the reactor is established and model for calculating the soft instrument on outlet acetylene conc-entration is deduced on this basis. Meanwhile, this paper presents the optimization of operating conditions of hydrogenation catalyst. increment of ethylene is increased to maximum limit und-er the optimum operating conditions, and it is propitious to the catalyst regeneration cycle and the stable operation of the device.Advanced control is implemented on the acetylene hydrogenation reaction device on the basis of simulation analysis. In order to provide the target value for outlet acetylene content and catalyst activity and selectivity according to the actual requirements, the outlet acetylene cont-ents, catalyst activity and selectivity is calculated on-line by means of the derivation about soft instrument on outlet acetylene concentration. Therefore, the outlet acetylene concentration is controlled with the amount of hydrogen, regional control is implemented on activity and selec-tivity of the reactor.The project is realized and implemented, the circuit is increased, the controller is employ-ed in accordance with some relevant conclusions, operating environment, production security respectively. In this way, the catalytic bed operation cycle will be enhanced, the outlet acetyle-ne concentration of ethylene products within the scope of the permitted maximum limit, also the minimum value of ethylene turn into ethane, so that enhance the catalytic bed operation cycle, save the energy and improve economic efficiency.
