A Research On Relationship Between Tourists’ Environmental Attitude And Environmental Behavior

The conflict between human being and nature is increasing with the development of productivity. Since its coming into being in the nineteenth century tourism has been considered as green industries. However, with the high-speed development of tourism, its effect on the environment, especially on tourism resources, is becoming more obvious. At present, the environment problems caused by tourism are more recognized by people with the awareness of environmental importance. Through the review of the relationship between man and nature, human beings have to learn to respect and protect the nature, and put themselves as part of the nature.The study of environmental consciousness, environmental behavior and the relationship between the two has been the focus of environmental sociology, one of the major goals of which is to discuss how human beings see the environment and participate in environment improvement. As the main actors and service subjects, tourists’ consciousness and behaviors towards environment have a critical impact on environmental protection.In accordance with relevant theories of environmental attitude and environmental behavior, this thesis defines the concepts of tourists’ environmental attitude and environmental behavior. Based on an analysis model developed from a literature review, it takes Dalian as an example, and gets corresponding data through a questionnaire survey and interviews. It comes up with the idea of the dimension of environmental attitude and environmental behavior. More specifically, the environmental attitude is divided into environmental sensitivity, environmental concerns and environment anthropocentrism, corresponding to the behaviors of environmental responsibility ecological management and the environmental involvement. The descriptive statistical analysis of factors tells us the basic information about tourists’ environmental attitude and environmental behavior. On the one hand tourists have higher environmental sensitivity and begin to concern about tourism environment in their travel experiences; On the other hand, sustainable development has had deeply in human mind. Tourists present a strong attitude of environment responsibility, in despite of their poor motivation. So, the environmental attitude and environmental behavior at this stage provides good foundation for the guidance of tourists’ environmental behavior.Using the method of correlation analysis and regression analysis, this thesis discusses the relationship between environmental attitude and environmental behavior then studies the impact manner and degree. It is found that there is significant correlation and regression relation between environmental attitude and environmental behavior, and the environmental behavior can be influenced by changing the environmental attitude. The research conclusions may provide the basis for relevant departments to formulate related policies, and help tourists set up the correct environmental attitude and improve the environmental behavior, and contribute to the sustainable development of tourist industries.
