In this paper, a kind of electrically conductive EPDM composite filled with nickel-coated graphite or conductive carbon black was prepared. The effect of types of conductive carbon black, structure and amount of the CB for the curing properties, mechanical properties and electrical conductivity in EPDM composites were studied. Reactive plasticizers and mineral oil were used in the rubber composite to reduce the mooney viscosity. The effect of large particles of carbon black for composites were also researched. Sulfur vulcanization system, DCP curing system and the double2,5curing system were used. It indicated that the composite using Sulfur vulcanization system is more effective in conductive property than the other two curing systems, while accompanying a large compression set. The percolation value of the composite using the peroxide curing system is large, but there is a less compression permanent deformation.The difference of the structure and properties between the conductive filler before and after mixing was studied. The effect of stable performance in mixing process on nickel-coated graphite conductive powder was also researched. The effect of the amount of conductive filler on electrical conductivity, mechanical properties of NCG/EPDM is studied. By adding suitable coupling agent A137, the volume resistivity of the composite material is reduced, and the conductive stability of conductive composites is increased. The optimum amount of coupling agent A137was studied. By analyzing and comparing the sulfur vulcanization system, DCP curing system and the double2,5curing system, It was found that the compression permanent deformation with sulfur vulcanization was large, while the DCP vulcanization system and the double2,5curing system can reduce the compression set of the material, and the double2,5curing system can also reduce the Mooney viscosity, improve the processing properties of the material, and reduce the percolation value, it is the best coupling agent of NCG/EPDM composites.
