With the continuous development of science and technology, PA6T, a new polymer material, has been widely used in electronics, electrical appliances, automobiles and aerospace field asone of the heat-resistant polyamides for its excellent heat resistance, stiffness, dimensionalstability and low absorption of water. But it must be modified to be used in industry due to itsmelt temperature is higher than the decomposition temperature. The comonomers mostly usedcome from petroleum, the production process is complex and the cost is high.In this paper,PA6T/11copolyamide was prepared by melt polymerization which was much simpler andusing11-Aminoundecanoic Acid come from castor oil as the comonomer.PA6T salt was firstly prepared, the effect of the temperature and the value of pH on it werealso discussed to determine the salt-forming process. The infrared spectrum of it was analyzed. Then PA6T/11copolyamide was successfully prepared using PA6T salt and11-Aminoundecanoic Acid by melt polymerization. The best polymerization process wasdetermined by analyzing the variation of intrinsic viscosity and melting temperature of thesynthetic polymers. The infrared spectrum analysis was carried out for PA6T/11copolyamide.The thermal and crystallization properties of PA6T/11polyamide were studied. The testresult of the thermal property showed that the melting temperatures of PA6T/11with differentcontent of11-Aminoundecanoic Acid were high and less than the decompositiontemperature. And the thermal decomposition temperature were higher than450℃. This notonly conforms to the requirements of the high temperature resistant material, but also makesthe processing window wide which can reduce the processing difficulty. The crystal morphology of PA6T/11copolyamides were observed by polarizationmicroscope, then find many microcrystallites in the photos. And the crystallization behavior ofPA6T/11was studied, its non-isothermal crystallization kinetics was analyzed by Mo methodand the value of F(T) and α were calculated. The results show that Mo method wasappropriate to describe the nonisothermal crystallization process of semi-aromatic polyamide. And in the unit crystallization time, a larger degree of crystallinity can be obtained when thecooling rate increased.
