As with safety accidents in production, safety accidents in daily life also constitute a major threat to the health and life of human. Safety accidents in life are mainly caused by the individual’s behavior in the realm of life. However, Work-family research show that, the two areas of work and family life are closely related and influenced by each other, the values, affect, behaviors and skills experienced by individuals in one domain will transfer to another domain, generating spillover effect. Researches show that, organizational climate, like other issues in the field of work-family, will also have spillover effects, which in turn influences the employee behaviors outside the organization’s boundary.However, most of previous research on the spillover effect of climate stays at the level of phenomenonan alysis, lack of deep discussion on the antecedents and boundary conditions of climate spillover. This study adopts the social influence process theory framework, introduces the different motivational mechanism underlies individuals’ integration into safety climate, namely, compliance, identification and internalization as the antecedent variables, to explain how the different motivation mechanism affect safety climate spillover, in order to investigate the mechanism of the potential antecedents of safety climate spillover. In addition, this study also introduces safety climate and work-life role integration as a moderator, to explore the facilitating or hindering effect of these two variables.This study conducted a survey questionnaire in some engineering laboratories in a university in Zhejiang Province, and analyze the data collected. The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1) The different motivational mechanism underlies individuals’ integration into safety climate, namely, compliance, identification and internalization, will significantly affect the safety climate spillover.(2) Internalization and identification positively affect safety climate spillover while compliance negatively influences safety climate spillover.(3)The safety climate has a positive moderating effect on the relationship between internalization and safety climate spillover, this relationship is become stronger when safety climate is high. The safety climate also has a similar positive moderating effect on the relationship between identification and safety climate spillover.(4)The work-life role integration has a positive moderating effect on the relationship between internalization and safety climate spillover, while at the same time, it has a negative moderating effect on the relationship between compliance and safety climate spillover.Finally, this paper discussed the research results and pointed out the theoretical and practical implications as well as limitations of this study.This paper also put forward the prospects for future research.
