Recently, the design and synthesis of polyoxometalates (POMs) have provoked significant interest owing to not only their intriguing structural frameworks and unique physical and chemical properties but also their potential applications in many fields, for example, medicine, catalysis, nanotechnology, photochemistry, materials science and chemical analysis and so on.The aim of this thesis is the synthesis of novel compound on the basis of polyoxometalates (POMs) connected by benzotriazole,3,3’-dimethylbenzidine,4,4’-dipyridine,2,2’-dipyridine and2-amino-6-methylpyridine ligands. A novel three dimensional chain-like structure of silicotungstate cluster compound (1), five novel organic-inorganic hybrid compounds (2-6) and two supramolecular compounds (7-8) modified by fragments of cation have been synthesized on the basis of hydrothermal technique and/or aqueous solvent synthesis methods. Their chemical formulas are listed as follows:K2NaNi[SiWⅥIi2O40]·4H20(1)(C14H18N2)2[SiWⅥ12O40]·(C14H16N2)(C10H10N2)2[SiWⅥ12040]·3H20(3)(C6H9N2)3[PWⅥ10WⅤ2039]·2(C6N2H8)(4)(C14H18N2)1.5[PWⅥ12O40](5)(C6H6N3)3[PWⅥ12O40]-4H20(6)[ZnⅡ(C10H8N2)2(H20)2](C5H7N)[SiWⅣ12040](7)[ZnⅡ(C10H8N2)2]2[SiWⅣ12O4o](8)The compounds structurally characterized by X-ray single crystal diffractions analysis, IR and elemental analyses. The fluorescent properties, thermal stabilities of the compounds have been studied by fluorometric analysis and TG Compounds particles were used as a bulk-modifier to fabricate a three-dimensional chemically modified carbon paste electrode (CPE) by direct mixing. The electrochemical behavior of the solid particles dispersed in the CPE in acidic aqueous solution is characterized by cyclic voltammetry.
