In order to improve the processing efficiency of silicon materials, thetraditional single-wire cutting technology has now been completely replaced by amulti-line cutting technology. The multi-line cutting method could cut the machinedpart into hundreds of or even thousands of pieces by introducing abrasivematerials, such as crystalline silicon, synthetic quartz, synthetic sapphire, opticalglass and the other brittle materials, into the cutting region by high-speedreciprocating movement of multi steel lines. The control system of multi-wiresawing machine is complex. The control accuracy is relatively higher. So theproduction costs are relatively higher. At present, domestic manufacturers havenot fully mastered multi-wire controlling technology. Most of high performancemulti-wire sawing machines in market are imported. To improve the performanceof the domestic multi-wire sawing machines, the existing problems must bestudied in-depth and be solved. The theoretical analyses and experimentalstudies of issues in the existing domestic multi-wire sawing machine are done.These would lay a solid foundation for the improvement of performance in thedomestic cutters.To solve the multi-wire breakage problems happened in domestic multi-wiresawing machine, the reasons of steel wire tension fluctuation are analyzed. Thelimitations of the existing tension control systems are demonstrated under themathematical point of view. A novel mechatronic multi-line cutting tensioncontrolling method is proposed. The high accuracy, the low breakage, and theoperability, of the novel tension control strategy, is verified by simulations andexperiments.A speed-synchronization algorithm of multi-motor system is proposed basedon integral-separate PID according to the coordination of multi-wire synchronoustrace systems. A tension motor mechanism model is used to analyze multi-wirespeed adjustment mechanism. Experiments show that the algorithm couldimprove the stability and accuracy of the system.A new type mode of winding displacement is proposed based on electroniccam which controls the servo motor via software virtual electronic cam according to the limitations of traditional winding displacement. Experimental results showthat the mechanical structure is simple, and its winding displacement is uniformity.Based on the above analysis, the hardware systems of multi-wire sawingmachine which included alignment systems, sand feeding system, table system,and heat exchange systems has been designed. And the development ofmulti-wire control program and HMI UI program has been completed.The software and hardware systems have been tested in productive practice.And the performance index meets the design requirements.
