With the increased automation and expansion of industrial production scale, the tension control is playing a more and more important role in many industries which also have put forward higher requirements. In the winding process of drawing ultra-fine wire, the stability of the tension has a critical influence on the wire quality. The fluctuations and changes of the tension will seriously affect its production. Especially some new processes propose the ever-increasing demands of tension control.After the analysis of process and characteristics of the drawing, the closed-loop tension control syetem based on L-PLC and fuzzy-PID was investigated in order to meet the requirements of the winding tension control.According to the winding tension simplified model, the relationship between winding wheel speed and winding tension was built. Based on the method using different speed between drawing machine and winding wheel to control tension constant, the scheme of tension control was put forward.Based on the study of hardware, the L-PLC as controller, MCL tension sensor as the detective device, Mitsubishi servo motor as exective, Mitsubishi touch screen GOT 1045 as interface were chosed to establish the tension control system.After the study of Fuzzy-PID control algorithm, the MATLAB-SIMULINK simulation was made using Fuzzy-PID control algorithm and traditional PID control algorithm based on the built model. The Fuzzy-PID control algorithm is more effective to the winding tension by comparing the simulation results.Aiming to apply the Fuzzy-PID control algorithm to L-PLC, the structure of register in L-PLC was analysed. The fuzzy rule table which is stored in the register was looked up by using indexed transfer order. The friendly man-machine interface was built by programming through GT Designer3 based on the GOT 1045. The assessment of system was made by debugging the control system.The paper was summarized at last and some prospects in further study was put forward.
