In this paper, a kind of environmental friendly interior wall coating is prepared byreplacing part of titanium dioxide with diatomite, which is considered to be a new pigmentand filler. It can lower the cost of production, and at the same time as functional as theconventional coating. Most importantly, it can efficiently absorb formaldehyde released byinterior decoration materials and furniture, thus improved the indoor environment. Mainresearch content contains:Firstly, modified the coated property on diatomite surface by chemical process withsaline coupling agent and silicone modified agent. By comparison, silicone modified agentis better in modifying diatomite, and best dosage and the optimum technology wasconfirmed. By using X-ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscopy analyzed theactivated silica performance before and after modification, the results showed thataluminum coupling agent coated on the surface of the diatomite fume by chemisorbedimproved the compatibility in the organic solvent.Secondly, using modified diatomite as a new pigment and filler, combined with otherpigment and filler, studied the coating formula and confirmed the preparing process. Byorthogonal experiment, confirmed the best matching (diatomite, coarse whiting, kaolin andwollastonite) of pigment and filler to be2:1.75:1:1. By single factor experiment, bestPVC is confirmed to be55%. The coating formula is ultimately formed an eco-friendlyinterior paint and regular performance testing was carried out. It turns out that the productis up to national standard. Formaldehyde purification performance test showed thatpurification performance factor is82.6, and persistence factor is77.7, which up to theindustrial standard. And even higher than the retail product. Also, this coating is highlybrush resistant, and has a very small volume of VOC, thus considered to be a new type ofeco-friendly interior paint.Finally, inner flow field numerical simulation was made by using FLUENT softwareon80mm standard stir plate and100mm standard stir plate. The result showed that inner flow field distribution using100mm standard stir plate is more homogeneous than that of80mm.
