The quality and properties of the PAN precursor are the key factor to obtaincarbon fibers with the good performance. Therefore, how to improve the qualityof the spinning solution and optimize the various factors to prepare the good PANprecursor is a key problem to produce the high-quality carbon fibers.In the thesis, the factors of the preparation of the spinning solution havebeen firstly investigated. The polymerization time, polymerization temperature,initiator concentration, the substrate concentration, and the vacuum all affect thequality of the spinning solution of PAN precursor.Secondly, the factor of the spinning process has been also studied. Theresidual solvent (DMSO) in PAN precursor affects the CV value of PANF and thestrength of carbon fibers. Considering the balance of the property of carbon fibersand the cost of production, the amino-modified silicone oil (28–32%) wasadopted. The concentration of silicon oil also affects the yield of the spinningsolution and the content of carbon in carbon fibers. The quality of the spinningequipment can also affect the CV value of PAN and the property of carbon fibers.In summary, to get good quality of PAN precursor and carbon fibers, thepreparation of the spinning solution and the spinning process are the two keypoints.
