ABS resin is a thermoplastic polymer with high rigidity, high toughness andeasy-producing. But VOCs are produced in the production process of ABS resin. TheVOCS are from coagulation process and melt-blending process. It contains: the gas ofacrylonitrile and styrene, oligomer etc.The pilot plant was constructed and used in synthesis resin factory of Jilinpetrochemical company, CNPC. The impact of catalyst on removal efficiency wasinvestigated. The most optimum condition and resistance property of SO2for catalystwas also studied.The results showed: T=350℃, SV=15000/h was the optimum operatingcondition. Disposing efficiency of acrylonitrile and styrene were separately more than98%and99%. The oligomer decomposed completely about350℃. This catalyticoxidation method which ZECAT CC-AN type catalyst was applied for treating thewaste gas in ABS production. This study showed that catalytic oxidation method wasused for industrial application.Based on the experiments results of pilot plant, the industrialization plants wasconstructed and used. After the test in seventy-two hours, the concentration of VOCsand NOx treated was lower than the national standard, which met to the dischargestandard. The temperature and pressure of furnace are stability. The operation ofequipments is also stability.The equipments for treatment of waste gas are suited when the run ofcoagulation and melt-blending fluctuated. The equipments reached to the designrequirements.
