ABS resin is a ternary graft copolymer composed of styrene, acrylonitrile andbutadiene. It is a thermoplastic polymer material and its strength, toughness andmolding performance are good. Because it is easy to get and in many environments cansubstitute other materials, it is widely used in many areas. The researches show that asparticle size of PB latex increases, ABS resin can cause more crazes in force andabsorb more impact energy, making toughness become higher; In the process of graftpolymerization, the bonding strength between rubber and plastic can be improved byincreasing graft ratio to improve impact strength. Therefore, it is possible to improvethe impact strength of ABS resin by increasing the PB latex particle size andimproving graft ratio appropriately. In summary, it has very important meaning in reallife to study and prepare the high-impact ABS resin. The following are the contents and conclusions of this experimental study.1. The researches on synthesis of small particle size PB latex show that theparticle size of PB latex becomes smaller with the increasing amount of emulsifier, initiator and TDDM, and with the increase of solids content of latex and the amount ofelectrolyte, the particle size of PB latex becomes larger.2. Through agglomerating the small size of PB latex(101nm) we can find thatwhen the unsaturated acid is in an amount of10%in the synthesis of agglomeratingagent and agglomerating agent in an amount represents1.5%of PB latex, agglomeration effect is the best; In the process of agglomeration, under the conditionsof pH value9to10, agglomeration temperature40℃and stirring time for1h, theparticle size of PB latex can be increased, and latex system is more stable.3. Through the synthesis and performance of ABS resin we can find that when theparticle size of PB latex becomes larger and TDDM increases in the amount, graft ratio decreases gradually in the graft polymerization process of PB latex. With the increasein the amount of initiator, graft ratio increases first and then decreases, and the grafteffect of oxidation-reduction system initiator is superior to KPS. Through the researchon impact property of ABS resin we can find that as the rubber phase particle sizeincreases, the impact strength increases first and then decreases. Impact strengthincreases with the increase in the amount of rubber phase. When the amount of TDDMdecreases, the impact strength is higher. Through the research on tensile property ofABS resin we can find that when the rubber phase and its particle size increase, thetensile strength of the ABS resin becomes gradually lower, but the effect is very small. With the decrease of the amount of TDDM, molecular weight of the resin phase ofABS increases gradually, and the impact strength is continuously improved, and theelongation at break also increases, but the tensile strength decreases gradually and theamount of TDDM has little effect on it.
