Due to the characteristics of low permeability and insufficient fluid supply, pumping unitsin low-permeability reserviors cannot perform as good as in the normal reserviors. Therefore,the current study focused on the performance of intermittent production technique inlow-permeability reserviors. The intermittent production technique was an energy savingtechnique without any extra input. The technique shortened the continuous working hours ofpumping units. It also reduced the dry pumping wear, which increased the efficiency ofpumping using. At last, the intermittent production technique had a significant effect on powersaving. In a word, the intermittent production technique is a big improvement on the existedlow-production oil wells.Based on the study on geographical information and production situation of Nanniwan oilproduction plant, Yanchang oil field, researchers developed theoretical models for intermittentproduction techqnique in low-permeability reserviors. Three plans of determining intermittentdurations were proposed. All the plans were testified in5selected wells in Nanniwan oilproduction plant. Appropriate equations of calculating intermittent duration were concludedfrom the experiments. Well test interpretations were conducted on3of tested wells.The experiments well suppported our theoretical model and equations. The intermittentdurations of5wells were calculated. The interpretation results matched the real productionsituations. The development of theoretical model and intermittent duration calculatingequations had significant effects on the field productions.
