In recent years, water environmental problem caused by industrial pollution is quite serious in Liaoning province. Especially, there are a lot of large scale metallurgical enterprises, petrochemical enterprises and pharmaceutical enterprises which are quite likely to cause serious water pollution. Nowadays, there are plenty of water treatment technologies. The treatment effect of each water treatment technology for waste water is remarkably different because the type and concentration of pollutants contained in the waste water have obvious industry characteristics. Meanwhile, the emission standards are different basin area. Therefore, evaluation and optimization of water treatment technologies according to different industries and areas is of great significance.Based on different technology evaluation methods, the technique benefit analysis method, the Fuzzy&Grey comprehensive evaluation method, the grey evaluation method were chosen for evaluation methods. In order to achieve better water treatment effect for different industries, index system were established according to the characteristics of the waste water from different industries, and the technique evaluation considering both treatment effect and economic benefit were done comprehensively.In this research, the water treatment technologies of metallurgy industry, petrochemical industry, pharmaceutical industry, textile industry, paper making industry and beverage industry were selected as the research object. The whole province and six basin units (the region of Taizi River, the region of Daliao River, the region of middle Hun River, the region of upper reaches of Hun River, the region of Liao River estuary and the region of upper reaches of Liao River) divided according rivers flow direction and watershed were set as the research scope. The index system included both treatment effect indices and economic benefit indices. COD removal rate, BOD removal rate, NH3-N removal rate, volatile phenol removal rate, petroleum removal rate etc. were chosen as treatment effect indices, and initial cost, annual operation and maintenance costs, equipment service life etc. were set as economic benefit indices.The evaluation involved353industry enterprises and3,000groups of data of influent/effluent, and2,000groups of economic data which were obtained environmental statistics of Liaoning in2009. More than20kinds of water treatment technologies were investigated, including typical physical, chemical and biological wastewater treatment technique and their combinations. Through data analysis, the order of current technologies according to the evaluation were given, and most optimized techniques were obtained in the aspect of treatment effect, economic as well as comprehensive index system. The evaluation result would do great help to decision making of wastewater treatment technologies.
