Vacuum remelting arc furnace is the core equipment of refining titanium and titanium alloy. During the running of electric arc furnace, the power factor is low, the harmonic content is high. It would seriously influence the smelting efficiency and the stability of electric arc furnace, pollute the power quality of power supply system. Therefore, In view of the characteristics of the reactive power and harmonic content changes of the electric arc furnace, it is of great significance for the reactive power compensation and harmonic suppression of electric arc furnace.The article analysis of the equipment composition and melting process of electric arc furnace that generally divided into arc starting, melting and feeding stage. Different melting stage, corresponds to different reactive power and harmonic content, and different impact on power quality of the power supply system.According to the characteristics of electric arc furnace process, TSC reactive compensation system is chosen as the reactive power compensation device of vacuum remelting arc furnace. TSC reactive compensation system is composed of compensation filter unit and reactive power compensation controller. First of all, the controller samples voltage and current signal that transferred through the ADC unit, and calculates the system parameters in real time through the FFT algorithm. Then control the input and cutting of compensation filter unit according to the actual situation and control strategy. With the reasonable parameters design of compensation filter unit, the dynamic reactive power compensation is realized, at the same time, harmonic for the vacuum remelting arc furnace can be restrained.Run the test shows that TSC reactive compensation system could not only effectively compensate the reactive power, the harmonic of the system is also has a certain inhibitory effect. It could reduce the power consumption per unit for electric arc furnace, improve the stability of the electric arc furnace and the power quality of power grid. The system has typical promotion value.
