With the rapid development of nearly 10 years China's industrialization process, "energy-saving and environmental protection" has ranked seven key cultivation of emerging industry in our country. The Metallurgical industry consumed more than 10% electric energy of the national energy consumption, more than 15.25% of energy consumption in industrial sector. Research aimed at submerged arc furnace energy-saving has become a hot research field.In this paper,we first introduce submerged arc furnace structure, analysis the system parameters, analysis of reactive power compensation for the benefits of-arc furnace. We introduce the harmonic generation and the corresponding national standards. Due to the harmonic of-arc furnace not only affect the surrounding electric-arc furnace equipment, also can make the power grid waveform affected and lower the quality of power supply if the harmonic feed into the grid, so the harmonic suppression of submerged arc furnace is imperative. In addition, the harmonic not only cause serious harm to submerged arc furnace, will also affect the surrounding electric equipment. Once the harmonic feed into the grid, it can make the power grid waveform affected, reduce the quality of power supply.TCR Static Var Compensator could maintain its voltage does not change,and it could response quickly and operate frequently, it also could compensate every phase separately.So it can solve the problem of reactive power compensation which is caused by arc furnace.Harmonic governance measures are divided into active harmonic suppression and passive harmonic suppression. We choosed FC filter device as arc furnace filter. A mathematical model of compensatory capacitor calculation has been built in the paper according to simultaneous reactive power theory and three-phrase imbalanced load compensation theory of C.P.Steinmetz. The trigger of thyristor that has been computed by querying in the interpolation table. The values of compensatory simultaneous reactive power and capacitor were got through simultaneous sampling voltage and current. Through the analysis of TCR control strategy, design based on TMS320F2812 DSP control unit and other various hardware components. Then, in the TCR hardware system based on, to design the control system software structure, completed the part of the module the software and gives the program flow.Finally,based on a casting company in Lucheng City,l0 k V submerged arc furnace power supply system power quality problem has designed a filter compensation device.Including the main terminal design,the parameters of the main electrical equipment,selection,security,performance verification,and put into operation the benefit analysis and so on.
