5052aluminum alloy is one product in the5xxx series aluminum alloys, which is widely used in automobile, machine, aerospace, shipping, electronics industry and so on. At present,5052aluminum alloy sheet is only produced by the method of casting and rolling. That has disadvantages of long process flow, big equipment investment and high production cost. The most economic method of aluminum alloy is continuous roll-casting. That has advantages of energy conservation, environmental protection, small investment and low production cost. This paper takes5052aluminum alloy as experimental material and analyzes the effect of different content of AlTiB on sheets’ microstructure and mechanical properties under electromagnetic field by Electromagnetic Roll-casting. A series of results were obtained as follows:(1) Under the condition of static magnetic field, edge and center microstructures of roll-casting zone were refined, but grains uneven. Obtained under the condition of electromagnetic oscillation, center microstructures were equiaxed grain and grains were interrupted at the side of two-phase zone and informed zone meanwhile many small grains distributed surrounding the dendrite grains. Grain growth had certain directivity under the condition of static magnetic field. But grain growth had no directivity under the condition of oscillating field.(2)5052aluminum alloy under the condition of magnetic field mixed with AlTiB could get a better results than just under the condition of magnetic field or just adding in AlTiB. Under the condition of oscillating field, there existed equiaxed grains in the middle of the plate while the grains are homogeneous and non-directional on the edge.(3) With the increase of the content of AlTiB, refining effect was improved and more small rounded grains were gained. When0.2%AlTiB added under the condition of oscillating field, the central zone was full of equiaxial grains and segregation band disappeared almost. Grains on the edge. are homogeneous and non-directional. (4)The microstructure of5052aluminum alloy by adding AlTiB under electromagnetic field had been improved after annealing, especially under oscillating field casting segregation almost disappeared after annealing.(5) Electromagnetic roll-casting helped increase the mechanical properties of5052aluminum alloy sheet through mixing AlTiB. After annealing and cold rolling, the tensile strength of sheet was281MPa under oscillating field,320MPa by adding0.1%AlTiB, and325MPa by adding0.2%AlTiB. The tensile strength of sheet was improved without reducing the plasticity by adding AlTiB under electromagnetic field.
