The work in this paper included:(1) Propargyl cardanol was synthesized using cardanol and propargyl bromideby phase transfer catalyst reaction. The effects of reaction time, reactiontemperature, hydrogenion concentration, propargyl bromide and phenolphthaleinmolar ratio and on the yield were investigated. The best synthesis technology ofpropargyl cardanol was determined. The molar ratio of propargyl bromide andcardanol is1.2︰1, and the reaction temperature is75℃, the reaction time is24h.The chemical structure of propargyl cardanol was characterized by FT-IR, and1H-NMR. The thermal stabilization of poly-propargyl cardanol was evaluated withTG.The initial temperature of poly-propargyl cardanol was419℃and the charyield at800℃was14%. The thermal properties of propargyl cardanol resin werevery good.(2) According to DSC curves of propargyl cardanol employed to investigate thethermal-cured behaviors of propargyl cardanol, the curing kinetic parameters werecalculated by several thermo analysis methods, respectively, such as Kissinger andFlynn-Wall-Ozawa, and the apparent activation energy was143.46and145.15kJ/mol. The order of curing reaction obtained by the two methods allapproached to1and the mechanism was further discussed. Based on comparativeanalysis the two methods above, they all can be harnessed to properly simulate thethermal-cured process of propargyl cardanol.(3) On cardanol, paraformaldehyde in oxalic acid catalyst prepared under linearphenolic resin, cardanol with3-bromine propiolic on modification, preparation oflinear cashew phenol resin got propargyl cashew phenolic resin, before and after themodification by cashew phenolic resin infrared contrast shows that the product is thetarget product. The curing behavior of propargyl cashew phenolic resin was studiedby DSC and the thermal stabilization of poly-propargyl cashew phenolic resin wasevaluated with TGA. The polymerization of propargyl cashew phenolic resin is about237℃, the initial temperature of poly-propargyl cashew phenolic resin was430℃and the char yield at800℃was21%. The thermal properties of propargyl cashewphenolic resin were greatly improved by contrast with cashew phenolic resin. (4) Epoxy propyl-Containing Cashew Novolac-Type Phenolic Resin wassynthesized by cashew novolac resins and epoxy chloropropane and characterized byFT-IR. The polymerization reaction was characterized by DSC. The curetemperature of Epoxy propyl-Containing Cashew Novolac-Type Phenolic Resin is275℃. The thermal stability of poly(Epoxy propyl-Containing CashewNovolac-Type Phenolic Resin) was characterized by TG,the thermal decompositiontemperature of the resin reaches425℃at the heating rate of10℃/min in N2and thechar yield was17%at800℃of cashew phenolic resin were improved. Finally themechanical properties of Composite materials were tested.
