The diaryl ethers and derivatives are very ubiquitous structural motifs that in thenatural products medicinal chemistry and polymer science. They have very importantuses in medicine, pharmacy and other livelihood areas. The earliest method forsynthesize diaryl ethers is ullmann O-arylation reactions. But the reaction of ullmannO-arylation has many drawbacks, for example the reaction needs hightemperature,great amounts of catalyst and the yield is low. So development a newmethod for synthesize diaryl ethers in milder reaction conditions has receivedscientists,s much attention. Recently many new improved method that use ligand andadditives to promote and use Pd, Rh, Cu, Fe as catalyst had been reported. Howeverthese methods also suffered some drawbacks, for example the catalysts and aryl halidesare expensive.So development a method that use cheap metals as catalysts to synthesisdiaryl ethers in milder conditions is also a attractive goal. Compared with tranditionalmetal catalysts,nano metal catalysts have bigger specific surface area and catalyticactivity which made the reaction can proceeded under milder conditions. So we havereported a nano CuI catalyzed coupling reaction of phenols with nitroarenes.
