With the development of blanking technology nowadays, the thick steel plateblanking is widely used in all kinds of mechanical workout. The thick steel plateblanking is fitted for mass production and can boost productivity and reduceproduction costs. But due to the bad working environment, non-uniform load andserious abrasion during the blanking process of thick steel plate, the punch islikely to tip, break, abrase and bend. The service life of punch seriously restrictsthe application and development of the thick steel plate blanking.Through the study of the blanking mechanism, it is found that the blankingclearance seriously influences the quality of fracture surface on the blanking parts,the abrasion loss of the punch and the load on the punch, the radius of the punchcutting edge influences the above factors too. The research content is below:The iron plate whose thickness is t=8mm and whose material is AISI-1010iron, the punch material is AISI-D2iron, the diameter of the striking hole isd=15mm was investigated, finite element analysis software Deform-3D wasapplied to simulate and analyze the effect of the forming factors, such as differentblanking clearances and the radius of the punch cutting edge, on the quality of thefracture surface and the load of the punch, and the effect of the different initialhardness of the punch on the abrasion loss of the punch.Through the analysis of the effect of the parameters in the blanking processon the quality of the fracture surface of the blanking parts, it is found that theblanking clearance and the radius of the punch cutting edge influences the qualityof the fracturing surface of the blanking parts most, the proposal to solve theproblem that established the model of the quality of the fracture surface on theblanking parts was present. Through the simulation and analysis of the blankingclearance and the round angle of the punch cutting edge radius, it is found that therelationship of the maximum distance of the punch with blanking clearance andthe radius of the punch cutting edge when blanking plate fractures.When the blanking clearance is about C=0.846mm, the the radius of the punch cutting edgeis about R=0.190mm, the quality of the fracture surface on the blanking part isbest.Analysis the abrasion of the punch, it is found that the blanking clearance,the radius of the punch cutting edge, the initial hardness of the punch greatlyinfluence the abrasion of the punch. The technological route of simulating theabrasion loss of the punch and the model of the abrasion loss of the punch werepresented and established. Through the simulation and analysis of the effect ofblanking clearance, the radius of the punch cutting edge, the initial hardness ofthe punch on the punch abrasion loss,it is found that the relationship of theabrasion loss of the punch with the above factors individually. When the blankingclearance is about C=0.852mm, the radius of the punch cutting edge is aboutR=0.231mm, the maximum abrasion loss of the punch is minimum, meanwhilethe maximum abrasion loss of the punch decreases with the increase of the initialhardness of the punch.Through the theorectical analysis of the load on the punch, the proposal ofthe analysis of the load on the punch and the model of the load analysis of thepunch were presented and established. Through the analysis of the effect ofblanking clearance, the radius of the punch cutting edge on the load of the punch,it is found that the relationship of the maximum principal stress of the punch withthe above process parameters, find that when the blanking clearance isC=0.950mm, the radius of the punch cutting edge is about R=0.354mm, the maxprincipal stress of the punch is minimum.For the iron plate whose thickness is t=8mm, in the blanking process,because of the abrasion of the punch, when the blanking clearance is C=0.846mm,the radius of the punch cutting edge is about R=0.190mm, the blankingperformance is best.Through the analysis of the quality of the fracture surface of the blanking parts, the abrasion loss of the punch and the load of the punch, the proposal tosolve the problem of the punch failure in the thick steel plate blanking processand5solutions to improve the punch structure.were presented. Throughcomparison, it is found that the comprehensive performances of inner sphericalpunch is best.
