The study of paper is based on the project which the National Deep Explorationand Experiment ξSinoProbe-09-05ο.Hydraulic top drive drilling system of Crust1isaimed at providing advanced equipment and technical support for Second wells ofSongliao basin scientific drilling project. Hydraulic Top Drive Drilling System ofCrust1is the core of myriameter drilling rig and the main transmission system is thecore of top drive drilling system. The main functions are transfered hydraulic powerto the central axle of the top drive through hydraulic motor, planetary gearbox, brakeand gear reducer.The main features on main transmission system of hydraulic top drive drillingsystem of Crust1are high speed, large torque and wide speed range. It is met processrequirements of the deep well hard core drilling. On the basis of analysis of thedomestic and international current situation of the top drive drilling system, the maincontent of this paper and the research methods are presented and the solutions of maintransmission system of top drive drilling system are established finally.First of all, Hydraulic top drive gear reducer chooses the way of reducing speedand increasing torque based on its working principle. The gear parameters arecalculated by using knowledge of mechanical principles. Contrasting calculationsbetween gear face contact strength and dedendum bending strength, gear parametersare determined and checked. A three-dimensional model of gear is built by usingAutodesk Inventor software. The gear transient contact dynamics is analyzed by usingANSYS Workbench software. The reasonable and reliable gear parameters areobtained by mechanical theory and virtual prototyping technology.The top drive central axle is checked of strength and stiffness by mechanical theory and analyzed static and fatigue by virtual prototyping. In the simulation of holeaccidents and limit loads, the force of top drive central axle is still in the range ofyield strength. The high life and safety factor are met design requirements ofhydraulic top drive drilling system of Crust1. The main outsourcing parts of the maintransmission system such as hydraulic motor, planetary, brake, thrust bearing,expansion sleeve, are analyzed and selected. The thrust bearing and expansion sleeveare checked.The paper provides a reference of the entire top drive drilling system design anda new way to optimize subsequently the design of main transmission structure. Toensure the reliability of the main transmission system by theoretical analysis andvirtual prototype simulation, the top drive minimizes accidents in the next practicalapplication..
