This paper improved the experiment of the dehydration of sorbitol to isosorbide, and explore the reaction conditions in detail, and obtained the optimum reactionconditions: Sorbitol: Catalyst=1000:1, reaction time of2h,and reaction temperatureof140℃. We synthesized a novel efficient catalyst and used it to catalyze sorbitoldehydration to isosorbide, and prepared high purity and high yield isosorbide. Weconducted amplify tests of3kg level, and industrial middle-level experiment of1ton,and achieved good results. We conducted1HNMR,13CNMR, GC-MS to characterizethe product. In this paper, we used isosorbide copolymerize with terephthalic acid and1,3-propanediol, and discussed the polymerization process of two kinds of polyesterwhich contents of isosorbide were16.7%and32.8%and screen catalysts.Wesynthesize and characterize two effective catalysts,1,3-propanediol antimony and1,3-propanediol titanium, and conducted1HNMR, TG thermal analysis and intrinsicviscosity analysis to the polyesters, and made a preliminary evaluation to the structureand properties of isosorbide and polyesters. We explored the synthesis route of isosorbide, which had some advantages suchas high yield, high purity, and low-cost of synthetic catalyst, and high catalyticefficiency and so on; Synthetic routes and equipment is simple and more suitable forlarge-scale industrial production. The terephthalic acid copolyester containedisosorbide may be one potential alternative to PTT fibers.
