At present, imitating and analogy designing existing products,manufactured by foreign advanced coal mining equipment manufacturingenterprises, are the main methods in the process of research and developmentin coal mining, driving and transporting equipments and domestic enterpriseshave no ability to research and develop new products independently. Becauseshearer, scraper conveyor, roadheader and hoister’s working environments arepoor, structures are complicated and these equipments have many parts,high level mechanical designers in this industry, no matter young orexperienced, are not able to know internal structures and the actual workconditions in detail, thereby increasing a lot of difficulties for the design andresearch of these products, so it’s important to develop a new researchmeans to solve these problems.To solve various problems in the process of design and research of these equipments, virtual assembly and simulation system, cosisting of the virtualassembly subsystem, the scene simulation and roaming subsystem, the virtualhand subsystem, the force feedback subsystem and the system based on web,is realized ultimately when the technology of advanced virtual assembly andscene simulation have been used, double channel prop scene system has beensupported as the hardware, Visual Studio and Open Scene Graph have beensupported as the software platform, and force feedback, gloves and locationtracking data and other human interface devices have been integrated. Ourfocuses and achievements in this dissertation were listed below:(1) As the core of OSG and CEGUI mainframe, the solution to virtualassembly and simulation is proposed. The building hardware and softwareplatform could be mutually adapted and a convenient and simple operationaland functional interface could be provided for its users, meeting the need ofvirtual assembly and simulation.(2) The solution to a variety of interactive virtual reality hardware devicesapplied in this system is proposed, which solves the problem of interfere anddriver, such as location tracker, data gloves, force feedback device and etc..,using in Win32platform. Related technologies have been researched, whichincorporate haptic and tactile into the system successfully. In this way, internalstructures and actual operating state of mining, driving and transportingequipments could be perceived by its users deeply.(3) The solution to convert from CAD model to virtual reality environment is proposed, which enables the model file of UG、Pro/E import into OSG andOpenGL and display preferably, thereby narrowing the bridging of the gapbetween CAD software and virtual reality environment.(4) The concept of virtual reality library of mining, driving andtransporting equipments is proposed. According to internal structures andoperating features of these equipments, the virtual reality resource library,consisting of virtual disassembly parts and scene simulation parts, has beenbuilt when CAD Model transformation and optimization technology and3DMAX scene and animation technology have been utilized. It provides thebasis for system and related functions can be expanded lately.(5) Virtual assembly method based OSG is proposed. The theory,consisting of manipulation and resetting, path recording and playback ofmodel, automatic positioning constraints, network collaborative assembly,disassembly demo presentation automated and etc.., have been researched andrealized by programming. Thus it meet its users the need of virtual assembly.(6) Operating mode of virtual assembly and simulation based web isproposed. According to the using characteristics of enterprises and the public,internal enterprise system and public service system are built distinctly,thereby solving the urgent problem of interviewing remote virtual realitysources inconveniently.The eventual establishment of mining, driving and transportingequipments virtual assembly and simulation system can help designers to get to know products inner structures quickly and understand the productsoperation conditions and state in the actual production sufficiently, therebysolving the problem of having no connection among design, manufacture andits actual work environment. Providing a new mode for the rapid developmentof new products, this system provides reference to establish virtual realitysystem for other machinery equipments and can be applied to teaching andscientific domains.
