A great many of slopes are excavated for infrastructure constructions, e.g. highway, railway, water and electricity engineering, and mine exploitation. The excavation destroys the original vegetation and leads to a lot of naked land and serious soil loss. Consequently, the ecology balance is broken up. Slope eco-protection technology, regarded as an important way to restore and protect the damaged environment, has been widely utilized, thus it is necessary to find out the related theory.Recently a new kind of protection technology, e.g. spraying growing planting material, which can be applied to high and steep rocky slope has been invented in China, and the development of growing planting material is the main subject. In our study, gypsum is used for planting materials in an effort to find out the theory.According to the special application of planting material, the performance of material is composed of strength, wash resisting ability, bulk integrity, physical structures, the suitable pH and longtime nutrient. In paper, the suitable materials were chosen for each component to combine gypsum planting material through characteristic test and analysis of function of each component, and the components included soil, organic fertilizer, water, bond, admixture, water retentive agent, slowing releasing fertilizer, and seeds.The thesis point out that the project performance of material include bulk integrity, wash resisting ability and the zoology performance of material include burgeon rate, planting growing state. This thesis put forward a mix proportion design method which the project performance harmonizes with zoology performance, and carried through experiment. Result indicated that the planting material is suitable for plants growth and protection slope. Take compressive strength material as the judging targets, through analyzing the relationship of zoology performance and project performance.It’s improving the performance through adding the admixture that included ceramist, fly ash, water retentive agent and sawdust to gypsum planting material. Some characteristics of material, e.g. the drought combating ability, strength of material, bulk integrity, physical structures, wash resisting ability and pH were tested comprehensively and the results of each target were obtained. Moreover, the reasonable range of each component quantities was concluded by the comprehensive balancing method. The vegetation planting in gypsum planting material is tested and the plants’ growing condition is observed in experiments. It has been testified by the mass experiment that the vegetation grows completely health in gypsum planting material.
