The heavy pressure vessel welding on saddle type automatic welding machine is the intelligent welding equipment which welding the cylinder and nozzle. A large number of equipment are needed to realize large thickness, diameter welding the cylinder and nozzle such as million kw level nuclear motor group, supercritical firepower generator complete sets equipment and megaton large ethylene complete sets equipment, which the key of manufacture the equipment is the welding of saddle curve weld between them. Saddle type automatic welding machine is designed according to the present welding equipment which is difficult to realize the automatic welding of large cylinder and nozzle, and the welding of large thickness, narrow groove 3D complex weld can be realized.First, the successful experience had been drawn on and a new welding technology plan was put forward for narrow groove saddle weld multiple layers and tracts cycle in the paper according to the practical application of the domestic welding technology, which under the premise of deeply learning and analyzing the large saddle equipment at home and abroad. Then, the total design, movement and dynamic parameters of large saddle curve automatic welding have been determined based on the plan with the accomplishment of detailed design about the rest mechanical structure. The CAD/CAE (computer aided design/computer aided design engineering) technology was introduced in the design. The 3D model building and virtual assembly were done for the designed structure using UG software platform to make the designed structure substantial and visual, meanwhile the design cycle was reduced and the efficiency was improved. On the basis of 3D entity, the motion simulation and analysis was taken by using ADAMS software. The rationality of the design was verified to ensure the designed mechanical structure meet the practical requirements.The heavy pressure vessel welding on saddle type curve automatic welding machine has many good characteristics, such as good currency, high control precision, stable operation, compact structure, simple operation, easy maintenance and so on, which can meet the welding requirements of large cylinder and nozzle. The accomplishment of heavy pressure vessel welding on saddle type curve automatic welding machine can not only realize the automation of heavy pressure vessel welding, improve the product efficiency, but also fill the gaps in relevant fields.
