Study Of Centerless Grinding Process Expert System Based On CBR

Centerless grinding is a high efficient grinding method, which is widely used in machining roller bearings, shaft parts and auto parts because of its’advantages on giving the workpieces good surface quality, high machining accuracy and efficiency. In real application, the grinding process scheme is usually decided by inquiring about the pertinent grinding handicraft handbook and processing experience with a view of themselfs’ reality by craft workers. To a great extent, whether the process scheme is proper or not depends on the craft workers. Sometimes, as a result of the improper selection of process scheme, many serious errors on surface shape occur, and even cause batch waste products. How to ensure the quality and accuracy of centerless grinding machine and reduce the dependence on the craft worker’s experience is always one of issues the mechanical manufacturing enterprises concern about. In order to solve this issue, it is needed to establish a system of centerless grinding process expert database.Firstly, the centerless grinding machining principles and characteristics, research status at home and abroad and development tendency of centerless grinding were introduced. In view of the disadvantages existing in conventional centerless process scheme select method, developing a Case-based reasoning (CBR) about process expert system was proposed to realize the intelligent selection of centerless process scheme.Based on the research of CBR technique, a frame representation method was put forward to describe centerless grinding process cases. By analysing about 200 cases of centerless grinding process data from Wuxi Machine Tools Co.,Ltd., a centerless grinding process case librariy was established. The retrieval method of centerless grinding process cases was studied in depth. On the basis of analysing the special process characteristics of centerless grinding, a multi-layer retrieval model of centerless grinding process cases was built, into which AHP and Rough Set Theory were introduced. N-N strategy was used to retrieve the similar centerless grinding process Cases. And the reuse, revise and retain method of centerless grinding process case were expatiated on and a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method of centerless grinding process case was designed.Lastly, by using C++Builder 6.0 as a development platform and InterBase as a database management tool, the program of centerless grinding process expert system was developed and the interface of centerless grinding process expert system was designed. Besides, a grinding experiment was carried on to validate the system. the experiment results show that the method of centerless grinding Process selection based on CBR is correct and feasible, and the cnterless grinding process expert system is stable and effective.
