Study On Layout Features And Development Strategies Of Shipbuilding Industry In Yangtze River Delta

Ship is a major carrier and tool for human accessing to the sea, making use of the oceans, developing the marine economy. With the first aid of ship, human can get energy, resources and living space. Shipbuilding industry plays a very important role in ocean development. Shipbuilding industry is a traditional industrial sector out of various marine industrial sectors. However, in the national economy, shipbuilding industry is classified as the machinery industry (transportation industry), with the features of capital-intensive, labor-intensive and technology-intensive. China's shipbuilding industry has a long history, and its marine technology has been the leader in the world for a long time. At present, China has become the second largest shipbuilding country in the world. Japan, South Korea, Europe and China are the four world shipbuilding centers.One of the most intensive distribution areas is Yangtze River Delta with large scale and actual capacity. Manufacturing industry of Shanghai has a good foundation, its shipbuilding industry mainly based on large enterprise group. The joint ventures and private enterprises of Kiangs Province have been expanding their scales. The small and medium shipbuilding enterprises in Hewing Province are developing rapidly. At present, the Shipbuilding patterns that taking Shanghai as the center, Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces for the two wings has begun to take shape.The paper summed up and concluded the relevant basic theory and international research profile and then take Shipbuilding industry of Yangtze River Delta as the study object, using the theories of industrial location, industrial cluster, life-cycle and regional economic coordinated development to study its current situation, problems, trends and distribution characteristics, application location quotient and principal component analysis method to put forward strategies and policy recommendations for coordinated development of shipbuilding industry in Yangtze River Delta. The results show that:(1)Yangtze River Delta has the favorable conditions in developing shipbuilding industry, but it has some problems, for example, the similar industrial structure, too large investment scale, weak ship supporting capacity.(2) Shipbuilding industry of Yangtze River Delta has clear cluster features. It has entered the rapid development stage. (3)Shipbuilding industry in Yangtze River Delta showing the layout feature that gathers along the river, coastal and island. The specific layout areas are Yangtze River, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and eastern coast of Chongming, Changxing and the Zhoushan Islands.
