Gu Jiegang is a famous Chinese historian,he is also one of the founders of Chinese folklore, his contribution in China history is well known, but as a folklore scholars in China, his early of folklore activities were seldom mentioned, even if some of the papers or writings mentioned, also as historiography of subsidiary form. It's easy to give a person causes a feeling that he is on the verge of folklore studies, but in fact his research in the field of folklore is unique, also made brilliant achievement.Our modern folklore originated in 1923, ballads of Peking University institute of the solicitation and rhymes of stablishment and Ballads weekly founded , Its foundation and launched formally of Zhongshan university in Guangzhou of folklore society founded and folklore weekly published.Gu Jiegang's two important periods of the development were played an irreplaceable role. This article is from this angle to discuss, showing the folklore pioneer, especially in folklore field collection research, Mengjiangnv story ballads of research, mythology research contribution. The research in Chinese folklore Gu Jiegang in early modern folklore research standpoint, among modern Chinese folklore history he own special status. The reason that I imagine to Gu Jiegang's activities as the topic of thesis, is like based on review of predecessors scholars research experience, make us more sober know their experiences and lessons, to hope to contribute to the development of the discipline. Gu Jiegang's academic thoughts and academic methods, for our young students revelation, mainly should have broader academic mind and academic view, in order to transcend self.
