Research On Cooperation Of Iron Ore Resources In The Development And Utilization Between China And Mauritania

Mineral resources which reflects the strength of a country's overall strength is the main material resources of the development of human life and is the basis of the national economic development. With the rapid development of the world economy, the depletion of mineral resources gradually turns into a constraint in each country particularly as a bottleneck in developing countries. The faster Chinese economy develops, the more its demand for iron ore resources increases, even facing a huge resource gap. At the same time, Mauritania possesses extensive iron ore resources, which can be used of to introduce foreign capital in order to develop its economy. It makes sense that the two sides establish and improve the cooperation on the iron ore mining. On the one hand, Mauritania takes advantage of funds, technology, management and human resources, all of which are provided by China, so it can improve the economic efficiency of development and utilization of iron ore, expand the trading range of iron ore market, acquire more economic benefits to develop his economies, and improve living conditions. On the other hand, after cooperation, China can expand his sources about the supply of iron ore, ease the growing tension problem of insufficient demand for iron ore, protect the stability of socialist market economy and healthy development and safeguard national economic security. Further more, it is very important practical significance to expand and develop a wide range of"South-South cooperation".This thesis focused on the study on cooperation of iron ore resources in the development and utilization between China and Mauritania. By analyzing the current situation, it discussed the comparative advantages of bilateral cooperation, then analyzed the transaction costs of cooperation, and finally put forward the relevant suggestions. There are totally five chapters:Chapter one is the introduction. It mainly elaborated the selected topic's goal and the significance, correlation literature summary and theory, research content, ideas, and what innovated and disfigured are stated. They lay a certain theoretical and realistic basis for this paper.Chapter two is the analysis on the status about Iron ore resources of exploitation and cooperation. Firstly, from the reserves, technical equipment, use of resources, iron ore imports etc; it can analyze China's current situation on development and utilization of iron ore resources, point out the practical necessity of the overseas investment and cooperation on iron ore resources. Then it also analyzed the status on SNIM's development and utilization of iron ore resources among investment environment, mining, import and export. From the analysis above, it discusses the comparative advantages of bilateral cooperation, and expounds the current status of cooperation.Chapter three analyzed the development and utilization of cooperation between the two countries of iron ore on the base of the Transaction Cost. It elaborated the theory of transaction costs and pointed out how important the transaction costs is in the real economic activities at first. Secondly it dissected the transaction costs exited in the current bilateral cooperation. Eventually we obtained the means on lower transaction costs - Systems and Technology.Chapter four is the countermeasures and suggestions on how to strengthen cooperation in the development and utilization of iron ore mainly from government, business, cultural and other three levels.Chapter Five is the conclusion. After sorting of the full text, it made the conclusion and pointed out shortcomings and future research directions.The research in this paper on iron ore development and utilization of co-operation between China and Mauritania is less involved in the field of predecessors, so there is less relevant information. In addition, it made usage of theory of new institutional economics, such as transaction costs to analyze the cooperation between the two sides, and construct a framework on transaction cost. At same time it took political factors into account. Therefore it constituted the innovation of this paper that the useful attempt on interdisciplinary integration about both Economics and Political Science. However, because of the author 's limited academic level and there are some difficulties in data collection, extraction, induction and so on, this thesis is not perfect in its depth and completeness on the development and utilization of iron ore resources cooperative between China and Mauritania. Further research in this field is still in need.
