The major problems of manufacturing industry in China are low efficiency and lacking of innovation. In order to enhance products'competing strength, a company has to continuously make change to its product, which is the most important way of keeping competing strength in the market. In China, product's innovation input is always insufficient due to all kinds of restrictions. This has wildly affected the improvement of industry innovation ability. Starting from the relationship between technology scanning model and technology innovation in manufacturing industry, the research in this paper takes a trial on analyzing how the technology scanning models can influence the technology innovation of manufacturing industry.Basing on the existing research results and using fuzzy clustering analysis in a demonstration way, this paper try to validate Choo's four technology scanning model: no target observation scanning, conditional observed scanning, mobile scanning and exploration of scanning, investigating in the relationship between technology scanning model and technology innovating. I used different data from 194 manufacturing enterprises to validate how the four technology scanning models influence the conceptual model of incremental innovation and mutation innovation. The result shows that different technology scanning models take a different effect on the two innovating models.Research result shows that no objective observation of scanning and Explore scanning are better for mutation innovation because these two models pay more attention on the potential opportunity and have a wider scanning range. Meanwhile, Conditional observed scanning and mobile scanning pay more attention on the current existing customers'needs, thus are better for incremental innovation. By investigating in how different technology scanning models take effect on the two innovation models, we can better apply technology scanning model theories into guiding manufacturing industry's innovating practices, which can lead to enhancement in their products'competing strength.
