According to regional unbalanced development theory, since reform and opening-up, China has achieved rapid economic development, meanwhile the widenning gradually of regional gap has become the biggest challenge that influences social stability. Advocating inclusive growth and promoting economic and social harmony development become Chinese development topic. We shall trace new change law of regional economic convergence and put forward the correct regional policy proposals in the article.The main body of this article consists of two parts:Part one is about convergence analysis of regional economy. From the new perspective of five major areas and two gradations of the provincial and prefecture-level city, this dissertation exams regional economic convergence, analyses varying feature of economic convergence. Convergence is characterized by periodical fluctuations. (1) From 1984 to 2008, from 1984 to 1990 and from 1990 to 2000 there exists absolute convergence, but regional economic is divergent from 2000 to 2008 and from 1990 to 2000. However, from 1990 to 2008 accession to control variables such as government factor, fixed asset investment, industrial level, demographic factor and locational condition can contribute to the beta conditional convergence. (2) From 1992 to 2000 five regions and from 1992 to 2008 the northeast, central and southwest region and after 2000 southwest, eastern and the northeast had formed club convergence.Part two is about microeconomic regulation and control of regional economic convergence in China. Starting from production factors influencing convergence shift, and combining with regional economicβconditional convergence, this article summarizes major enlightenment of microeconomic regulation and control of regional economic convergence. Only by coordinating development of different regions, increasing capital investment and human capital input, reducing population growth rate, quickening technical progress, more rapid growth can be achieved and economical and social sustainable development and can be realized.
