Energy is the basic elements for the modern social and economic development, which is the country's important strategic resource. China has become not only the world's second largest energy consumer, but also the world's second largest emitter of carbon. It is an urgent need to solve energy shortage and reduce carbon emissions. It is also our country major practical problems. It is effective to improve energy efficiency to solve these problems. From the perspective of regional differences in energy efficiency, this thesis analyzes energy efficiencyThis thesis summarizes recent literature on domestic and international basis, considering the negative output from the perspective of the concept of energy efficiency, defining the economic activities of the negative output, evaluating model of energy efficiency, using non-parametric DEA Methods of energy efficiency in various regions of China to evaluate, analyzing characteristics of regional differences in energy efficiency, energy efficiency and impact of regional differences in the factors that made the empirical analysis, and further investigating the convergence of China's energy efficiency. The main findings of this thesis are the following.Firstly, it presents the overall energy efficiency in China. It has features:"the first rise, then fall, then rise slowly in recent years."From the regional differences of view, the eastern, central and western areas of energy efficiency differences are significant. Regional differences in the proportion of the overall difference are gradually narrowed, while the differences between provinces and cities within the region's contribution to the overall difference are increasing.Secondly, the level of economic development, opening up, industrial structure, ownership structure, technological progress, the energy consumption structure of regional energy efficiency are all important factors, but technological advances in energy efficiency are not significant. In addition, the various factors on the eastern, central and western influence are different.Thirdly, it does not exist in our region global energy efficiency of convergence, but there is absolute convergence in the control of the speed of economic development. There is still a conditional convergence for the efficiency of regional energy.
