The theory and methodology of ecological footprint based on the footprint of the 2004-2008 regional energy efficiency in China was calculated, and its use of spatial econometric theory an empirical analysis. Through the efficiency of regional energy footprint measurement found:plump areas of energy resources is generally low efficiency of energy footprint, large energy resource dependence, economic development models showed "extensive" features. Article demonstrate the efficiency of space factors on the energy footprint of the important influence that the energy footprint of the larger areas are often relatively abundant energy resources are also areas, these areas are often a high degree of energy dependence, energy consumption, high degree of accumulation of the status quo, our energy footprint efficiency characteristics of a certain location and accumulation characteristics. Furthermore, the article on the efficiency of regional energy footprint of the spatial convergence of the in-depth analysis and found that both the (3 convergence is that convergence or regional energy footprint of the efficiency of spatial convergence trend. To enhance the efficiency of regional energy footprint, the paper proposes:change over-reliance on energy resources, affluent area the status of energy resources; to promote the efficiency of regional energy footprint to enhance the hand; both inside and outside; raise the level of industrialization increase the efficiency of the energy footprint is beneficial; between the pros and cons of each region can not effectively achieve the optimal allocation of resources, promote greater efficiency in energy footprint of the proposal.
