Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has been widely concerned as an important issue by various circles of society since 20th century. Currently western corporations and international organizations have launched a series of CSR movements, and the development of social responsibility movements is also stepping into a new stage in China. However, compared with western corporations, there is relatively weak awareness of corporate social responsibility in China. Some corporations hesitate to fulfill their corporate social responsibility, considering that carrying out corporate social responsibility will reduce enterprise performance. Under this background, doing a research on how corporate social responsibility influence enterprise performance is surely significant and profitable to enhancing corporate social responsibility development in China. From the very start, this dissertation gives a general overview of CSR, including CSR definition given by scholars home and abroad, CSR theory development and empirical study on the relationship of CSR and enterprise performance. On this basis, with micro-data of corporations in Hangzhou, this dissertation firstly gives a descriptive analysis of social responsibility current situation and characters; secondly, with the method of instrumental variable, the statistical software stata10.1 to process data, this dissertation takes 2009 micro-data of enterprise in Hangzhou to do empirical research on how corporate social responsibility influence enterprise performance, and probe into CSR influence factors. We can get conclusions as follows from this dissertation:first, CSR awareness in most corporations of China is still weak. The performance of CSR is maily affected by the government law and corporation development. Second, CSR has positive influence on enterprise performance. But this influence is not notable.
