Chinese FDI to Africa has experienced a rapid growth since the beginning of 21st century. The investment drives the economic growth of Africa, and contributes greatly to the win-win strategy and common development between China and Africa. However, due to the complexity of African objective environment and the problems in management system, investment allocation, operation scale and risk control, the development of Chinese FDI to Africa is restrained to a certain degree, and insinuations circulated internationally such as "neo-colonialism" and "China threat theory" even become an extra obstructor. It is essential to study on the efficiency of African countries' economic growth promoted by Chinese FDI, so as to conciliate conflict and give advices to China-Africa economic cooperation.This thesis represents the features of Chinese FDI to Africa during different periods, and discusses the present status of Chinese FDI through the analysis of the main host countries, investment industry and Chinese enterprises' contribution to African economic. The efficiency of African countries' economic growth promoted by Chinese FDI is then analyzed with data envelopment analysis method. The result of technique efficiency, pure technique efficiency and scale efficiency reveals the problems in investment decision, market adaptation and scale operation among Chinese enterprises. The effective factors are researched empirically, and historical and international comparation is made over the efficiency. In addition, the FDI strategies of United Kingdom, France and United States to Africa are introduced and the experiences are concluded. Finally, advices about institution building, investment regulation, investment industry, operation scale, business practice, development assistance to Africa and international cooperation are given based on the practical problems of Chinese FDI to Africa.
