The problem of income inequality has been one of the hot spots in theoretical research of social sciences. In recent years, domestic and international economic scholars had undertaken extensive research on the issue of income gap between urban and rural residents, a growing number of scholars believe that the income gap between urban and rural residents has an important relation to people's livelihood, restrict the sustainability of regional economic development. With the further expansion of Urban-rural income inequality, the intense contrast of economic and social rights, public resources, quality of life between urban and rural residents will inevitably lead to dissatisfaction of the existing dual division system among rural residents, trig heated debate about the income distribution among community, and even lead to social unrest and chaos. Therefore, the issue of income disparity is not only of theoretical significance, but also has important practical significance for promoting the coordinated development of urban and rural economy in Gansu ProvinceThe thesis is divided into five parts:The first part is an introduction. Describes the background and significance of the topic, research status, method and ideas of this paper.PartⅡ,Ⅲis the Concept, Introduction of related theories and measure of the urban-rural income gap in Gansu Province, firstly defines the concept of towns, villages and the income inequality, then elaborates theories of urban-rural income gap and related measure index, and selects appropriate indicators to measure the income gap between urban and rural areas in Gansu Province.The third, fourth part analyzes the present status of income construction between urban and rural residents in Gansu Province as well as the historical change condition, then carries on the decomposition on Gini's coefficient using the differential method according to the source of income constitution, to reveal poise degree on source of income and effect on income inequality in Gansu Province.Part V will carry on the short-term forecast of the Urban-rural income inequality in Gansu Province employing ARMA mode, then analyze its convergence in accordance with the time series data convergence analysis, to better understand its long-term dynamic process. The sixth part put forward measures and suggestions to narrow the economic disparities of income in Gansu Province from the angle of the four sources of income.
