Harmonious Society: The Historical Compromise Of Common Prosperity And Wealth Gap

Building a socialist harmonious society is a major task and strategic objective of the CPC Central Committee headed by General Secretary Hu Jintao, looking at the overall situation to build a moderately prosperous society in all aspects and to create a new socialism with Chinese characteristics. The production of a harmonious socialist society has deep theoretical origin and strong realistic pertinence. Accurately speaking, it is put forward under the fact that there are many problems which have hindered the development of our economic society though there is an already better development. Of all the contradictions, the one between common prosperity and the gap of rich and poor is the uppermost among all. From the contradiction perspective, it is the socialist harmonious society that is the historical end to resolve the contradictions between common prosperity and wealth gap. On one hand, it an inheritance and development of De Xiaoping's thought of common prosperity- it is a historical inheritance of common prosperity; on the other hand, the enlarged gap between rich and poor is calling for the establishment of a socialist harmonious society, and it is a theoretical response to the appeal. The Essence of socialist harmonious society includes inner requirement of resolving this contradiction between the two. The process of realization of harmonious society is rightly the same process of resolving the contradiction. And the aim of socialist harmonious society is beyond wealth gap and is a realization of common prosperity. Therefore, we have to systematically demonstrate the theoretical position and role in resolving this contradiction of socialist harmonious society, and scientifically analyze the present situation, the reasons and development degree of wealth gap in realizing common prosperity, and then seek concrete countermeasures in order to resolve the contradiction.
