In recent years, there has been a huge demand for non-renewable resources that is due to the economic growth of the world economic entities, especially of emerging market countries. The enormous demand made the natural resources trade expanding and the share in the world trade rising. However, the scarcity of natural resources and the imbalance of it in geographical distribution, in addition to intense geo-political disputes, lead to rising prices of natural resources. The fight for natural resources in the world production or giant consumption countries became increasingly aggravate. With China's rapid economic growth, and the acceleration of industrialization and urbanization, resources constraints become a major bottleneck for economic development. The degree of dependence on import of non-renewable natural resources, especially of oil and iron ore, is increasing. Lacking of price-setting power, concentrating in source of imports, the major powers' inhibition and other issues are appearing. How to make use of the world's resources markets more effectively to import vital natural resources, and supply the strong support to economic development, are urgent problems to be solved in China's current and future economic development. The thesis proposes an import strategy of natural resources, and tries to find the path to solve these problems. It also puts forward corresponding measures to China's foreign trade department to make import trade policies. In this paper, game theory, natural resource scarcity, eclectic theory of international production and other theories are used to research strategic choices in the resource competition of the major powers. By analyzing the nature resources'demand conditions, import trends and problems facing to, especially oil and iron ore,the thesis compares the import strategies of other giant consumption countries, and is inspired from it, accordingly, proposing import strategies and corresponding policies for China, in order to make the imported resources play a role in the development of our economy and foreign trade more efficiently.
