A Research On City Commercial Bank Operational Performance Evaluation

As a main part of Chinese financial system, city commercial banks played an important role in Chinese financial industry. According to the strategic requirements of CBRC, our city commercial banks should strive to become the competitive and modern financial enterprise in 2012. Then according to the requirements of modern financial enterprise, making a scientific and comprehensive performance evaluation on our city commercial banks is increasingly important. Therefore, this paper chose Chinese city commercial banks'operational performance as research object and analyzed the influencing factors of city commercial banks'operational performance. On the basis of expert opinion, this paper constructed city commercial banks'operational performance index system which was applied in"A"bank's analysis. At last, this paper put forward the suggestions in order to improve our city commercial Banks'operational performance and help them to develop well.Firstly, this paper introduced background and significance of this research, combed the achievements of commercial banks'operational performance evaluation in domestic and abroad, put forward the researching methods and innovative points, expounded the concepts about commercial banks'performance evaluation, introduced current provisions about commercial banks'operational performance evaluation system and provided theoretical supports for the following empirical analysis. Then, on the basis of existing research achievements and domestic regulations, this paper analyzed the influencing factors of city commercial banks'operational performance and designed city commercial banks'operational performance evaluation index system questionnaire which was put forward to 20 related experts. On the basis of experts'opinions, this paper designed a set of new operational and scientific index system of city commercial banks'operational performance evaluation considering four aspects of profitability, safety, liquidity and developing ability.In the part of the empirical analysis, this paper would select"A"City Commercial Bank, Nanjing City Commercial Bank, Beijing City Commercial Bank and Ningbo City Commercial Bank as samples due to restriction of obtaining data. Taking"A"Bank as an example, this paper used single index evaluation method to do longitudinal analysis from 2005 to 2009 and do lateral comparison among"A"Bank and other three listed city commercial banks from 2007 to 2009. This paper analyzed"A"Bank's advantages and disadvantages of operational performance, reasons and differences between banks from profitability, safety, liquidity and developing ability. At last, according endeavors above, this paper gave related suggestions.
